A Welcoming Catholic Community - By Fr. Norm

Our parish school opens this coming Tuesday. Please pray for the students and their families, faculty, and staff. We are very blessed here. Many parishes, especially within the core of cities, no longer have schools. Our school continues as a vibrant, creative, caring, diverse community, welcoming all students and their families –centered in our Catholic Christian faith as a solid foundation remembering that the root word of Catholic means Universal.

The school is an integral part of our Parish Mission which states: We are a welcoming Catholic community, called together by Jesus Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit to live and share the love of God in our parish and in our daily lives.

We especially welcome at today’s 11 AM Mass the many families who have children in our parish school and are with us as we bless the students’ backpacks and the students. We want you, our young families, including those who do not have children in the school, to always feel welcome. I know you have busy lives and your children are involved in many activities. We know that you as parents and grandparents and other family members deeply love your children. With you we want your children to realize how deeply God loves them, how Jesus is the best friend anyone can have, and how worshiping together weekly can bring your family closer. Our Parish School of Religion (PSR) also begins soon for all students and their families, who are not directly affiliated with our parish school. Please keep them prayer, knowing that they too have been and always will be God’s beloved children and part of our parish family.
